Bilingual Dental Assistant

Duties

• Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, oral surgery, and pediatric treatments.
• Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies.
• Take and develop dental x-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners and dental x-ray machines, ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
• Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Open Dental while maintaining strict clinical confidentiality policies.
• Communicate effectively with patients in both English and Spanish, explaining procedures, answering questions, and helping patients feel comfortable throughout their visit.
• Provide patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures clearly using dental terminology, and ensuring comfort throughout visits.
• Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and adhering to healthcare infection prevention standards.
• Coordinate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, manage patient flow using patient management software, and handle administrative tasks efficiently.

Skills & Qualifications

• Fluency in both English and Spanish (required).
• Proficiency with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for accurate documentation and medical coding.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across general dentistry disciplines, including pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery.
• Experience operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, dental sterilization devices, and other clinical tools.
• Expertise in chairside assisting techniques, including four-handed dentistry and oral surgery support, to enhance procedural efficiency.
• Ability to perform dental instrument processing with precision while maintaining compliance with infection prevention standards.
• Familiarity with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations to protect patient privacy.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
