Billing and Collection Manager

About the Role

We are looking for a Billing and Collection Manager to join our team and manage regional invoicing, credit control and collection activities. The successful candidate will ensure accurate and timely billing, effective receivables management, and close reconciliation with agents and customers in line with company finance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage regional invoicing of freight, surcharges, demurrage, storage and door-to-door services, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Ensure all voyages are invoiced on time and that no voyage remains unbilled.
• Monitor receivables, ageing and payment terms, and follow up overdue balances with customers and agents.
• Manage credit limits and credit risk in coordination with the Commercial team and the Finance department.
• Reconcile current accounts with agents and customers across the region’s markets.
• Resolve invoice disputes in coordination with the Commercial, Trade and Operations teams.
• Track and report receivables KPIs such as DSO, overdue ratio and bad-debt exposure.
• Apply company finance standards and policies in billing and collection processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve billing accuracy, collection performance and process efficiency.
• Supervise and develop the regional billing and collection team.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience in billing, credit control or receivables management, preferably in shipping, liner agency or logistics.
• Knowledge of freight invoicing, demurrage and agency current-account reconciliation.
• Experience with multi-currency and multi-country receivables.
• Experience working with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with different stakeholders.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
