Duties

• Manage and process accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions using various financial software such as Workday, Paychex, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and PeopleSoft
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries related to billing activities, ensuring adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger accounting to verify accuracy of billing records
• Conduct detailed account analysis including account reconciliation, account analysis, and month-end closing procedures
• Handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity while maintaining high levels of data entry accuracy and numeracy skills
• Assist with audit preparations by providing detailed documentation of billing transactions and supporting schedules
• Support customer service efforts by resolving billing discrepancies promptly and professionally
• Utilize advanced Excel data analysis techniques to identify trends or anomalies in billing data
• Maintain accurate records of all billing activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and external regulations

Experience

• Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a focus on billing or bookkeeping functions
• Familiarity with accounting systems such as Workday, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, Ceridian, or similar platforms
• Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation
• Knowledge of industry standards such as GAAP and SOX compliance is highly desirable
• Experience working with governmental accounting or public accounting environments is a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite—especially Excel for data analysis—and familiarity with spreadsheets for financial reporting
• Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced setting
• Excellent communication skills combined with customer service orientation to effectively resolve billing issues
