Job Overview

The Billing Specialist is responsible for accurately and timely processing customer billing for domestic and international shipments. This role reviews shipment details, rates shipments in SAP TM, processes invoices, verifies supporting documentation, and ensures shipments are billed correctly and within established timelines. The Billing Specialist also supports payment processing, profitability reviews, and other billing activities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Rating domestic shipments in SAP – TM, as per the SOP for cost plus markup, customer tariffs, etc.
• Review quoted shipments for any changes that impact the quoted amounts.
• Reviewing shipment details for accuracy, including pieces, weights, dimensions and resolving any discrepancies with manager.
• Scan and upload shipment file back up to local network.
• Maintain open shipment board to ensure timely billing to customers.
• Review cost backup as needed in online shipment folders.
• Monthly storage, miscellaneous services billing.
• Run invoice process, post all invoices and shipments in TM, monitor Posting Worklist to ensure no shipments missed.
• Run invoice process in TM for International shipments, post invoices and post shipments.
• Send invoices to invoicing associate along with all necessary backup to be emailed to customers.
• Process credit card payments for customers as requested by customer service team.
• Review forwarding order and posting worklists shipments for profitability prior to posting.
• Miscellaneous billing tasks as assigned
• Developing knowledge of the shipping process through cross training with other team members

Qualifications

• Proven experience as billing clerk or general accounting experience
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize work
• Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Excellent math ability
• Good organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills
• At least one year of work experience in an office setting
