What they need
About the Opportunity
A well-backed Data Center company with $10B in recent private equity investment is expanding its Atlanta operation and building out its in-house construction capabilities.
They are looking for a BIM/VDC professional to take ownership of the function from the ground up. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to build something rather than step into an established BIM department.
Initially, you will remain highly hands-on, leading coordination, solving technical issues and working directly with project teams and trade partners. As the operation grows, you will have the opportunity to build and lead your own BIM/VDC team.
The Role
- Own BIM/VDC operations for data center construction projects across the Atlanta operation
- Lead multidisciplinary coordination across MEP, CSA and architectural scopes
- Identify clashes, sequencing issues and downstream impacts between trades
- Lead BIM coordination meetings with PMs, engineers, subcontractors and trade partners
- Review models, drawings and coordination deliverables to identify constructability issues
- Support project teams with BIM/VDC strategy from preconstruction through construction
- Establish BIM/VDC standards, workflows, processes and best practices from the ground up
- Work closely with project management, design teams, estimators and field operations
- Translate complex technical coordination issues into clear, actionable decisions
- Take ownership of BIM/VDC delivery while remaining hands-on technically
- Build and manage a BIM/VDC team as project volume and workload increase
What They're Looking For
- BIM, VDC or technical coordination experience within commercial, industrial, mission critical or data center construction
- Strong understanding of MEP coordination and multidisciplinary construction
- Ability to understand how changes to one trade can impact other systems, sequencing and constructability
- Experience leading coordination meetings and working directly with project stakeholders
- Strong understanding of Revit, Navisworks and/or other BIM/VDC platforms
- Confident communicating with PMs, engineers, subcontractors, trade partners and senior leadership
- Someone capable of operating independently without an established team or infrastructure around them
- Leadership potential and an appetite to eventually build and manage a BIM/VDC department
GC Experience Is Not Essential
The priority is technical coordination ability, not a specific background.
Strong candidates could come from a GC, MEP subcontractor, engineering firm, specialty contractor or another technical construction environment, provided they understand how the different systems interact and can confidently drive coordination.
Why This Role?
This is not an opportunity to inherit an established BIM department and maintain existing processes.
You will have the chance to build the function, establish the standards, influence how projects are delivered and eventually build your own team around it.
For someone at Assistant BIM Manager, BIM Manager or similar level who is ready for significantly more ownership, this represents a genuine opportunity to grow into a senior BIM/VDC leadership position within a rapidly scaling data center platform.
Other offers great for you!
