Bindery Operator – Folder / Cutter / Stitcher

We're a commercial printer producing brochures, booklets, direct mail, packaging and marketing kits for healthcare, technology, nonprofit and political clients. We're hiring an experienced bindery operator to set up and run our folders, cutters and stitchers.

What you'll do

· Set up and run folders for letter, roll, gate and multi-panel folds and 8- to 16-page signatures

· Program and run the guillotine cutter: parent sheets to press size, trims and final cutdowns to tight tolerances

· Set up and run saddle stitchers and the collator/stitcher for booklets, programs and catalogs

· Score, fold and perforate on the score-and-fold machine; trim, round-corner, drill, pad and shrink-wrap as jobs require

· Read job tickets and follow finishing instructions, including variable-data work that must stay in sequence

· Check first pieces and run quality against the proof; catch problems before a full run

· Count, band, box and label finished work for shipping or mailing

· Clock time to each job and process accurately in our shop-floor system

· Do routine cleaning and basic maintenance, and report equipment issues

· Help with hand work, inserting and kitting when the schedule needs it

Equipment you'll run

You'll be trained on our specific machines; experience on similar equipment is what matters.

Area - Equipment

Cutting - Programmable guillotine cutter, Horizon trimmer

Folding - Buckle/knife folder, Horizon CRF score-and-fold, Rollem

Stitching and binding - Saddle stitcher, Horizon VAC-100 collator/stitcher, Horizon perfect binder

Other finishing - Cylinder die cutter, drilling and round-cornering, padding, shrink wrap

What we're looking for

· 2+ years running a folder, guillotine cutter or saddle stitcher in a commercial print or bindery shop

· Able to set up jobs on your own from a job ticket: impositions, fold patterns, cut sheets

· Comfortable with measurements, fractions and a ruler; strong attention to detail

· Good mechanical aptitude and a safety-first habit around blades and moving equipment

· Able to stand for a full shift and lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly

· Reliable, on time, and able to work overtime when deadlines require

· Works well with press, shipping and mailing teams to hit ship dates

Nice to have

· Experience on Horizon equipment (collator/stitcher, CRF, perfect binder)

· Die cutting, perfect binding or variable-data finishing

· Forklift or pallet-jack experience

Schedule

Second shift, 2:30 – 11:00 PM, Monday – Friday; overtime as needed

Pay

$25.00-$29.00 per hour, based on experience; overtime at time-and-a-half
