About Green Carbon
Green Carbon is Asia’s leading carbon credit development company from Japan, specializing in Nature-Based Solutions such as AWD rice paddy, carbon farming, and forest projects. We also provide ESG consulting services for listed companies.

Role Overview
Green Carbon is seeking a Biochar Business Lead to take full ownership of building, launching, and scaling our biochar business in Thailand.
This is a 0→1 business creation role, covering the entire value chain—from feedstock sourcing and manufacturer coordination, to securing off-takers for biochar, wood vinegar, and carbon credits, as well as developing investor partnerships and leading overall business expansion.

We are looking for a highly driven individual who will treat the Thailand biochar business as their own, not someone who waits for instructions from HQ.
This role requires a leader who can design the strategy, execute the plan, and manage the team to achieve commercial success.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Biochar Business Launch & Strategy Execution

・Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for Green Carbon’s biochar business in Thailand.

・Identify necessary requirements for commercial feasibility (feedstock supply, production capacity, cost structure, product specifications, credit eligibility).

・Build a deep understanding of biochar production operations, including pyrolysis systems, yield, quality management, and the positioning of wood vinegar and co-products.

・Set project milestones, KPIs, and timelines; manage cross-functional progress and risks.

  1. Feedstock Sourcing & Manufacturer Coordination

・Identify and negotiate with feedstock suppliers (rubber, sugarcane, cassava, rice husk, etc.).

・Build partnerships with pyrolysis manufacturers and technology providers.

・Conduct due diligence on equipment, operations, quality specifications, and supply stability.

・Coordinate testing, pilots, and collaboration with research institutions when necessary.

  1. Buyer Development (Biochar, Wood Vinegar, Carbon Credits)

・Identify, approach, and close deals with domestic and international buyers.

・Understand buyer requirements for quality, specifications, application methods, and documentation.

・Secure long-term purchase agreements for biochar, wood vinegar, and carbon credits.

・Lead commercial negotiations and maintain strong client relationships.

  1. Carbon Credit Methodology & Project Application

・Study and understand methodologies from Puro Earth, Isometric, and other relevant standards.

・Identify and document all requirements for carbon credit eligibility (C-content, pyrolysis conditions, MRV, traceability, documentation).

・Design biochar projects that fully comply with methodology requirements.

・Coordinate MRV processes with universities, labs, and technical partners.

  1. Investor & Sponsor Engagement

・Identify potential investors or sponsors for biochar project financing.

・Develop investment proposals, pitch decks, and detailed financial models (cash flow, CAPEX/OPEX, ROI).

・Lead negotiations on investment structure, terms, and partnership frameworks.

・Engage with international climate funds, corporate buyers, and government-backed programs.

  1. Business Planning & Financial Modeling

・Build full financial models, including CAPEX/OPEX, feedstock costs, carbon credit revenues, and sensitivity analysis.

・Develop short-term and long-term business plans to scale production capacity.

・Evaluate different project structures (SPV, JV, EPC+O&M, revenue share) to optimize project feasibility.

・Ensure the business maintains strong commercial logic and profitability.

  1. Team Building & People Development

・Recruit key team members (sales, operations, field coordinators, analysts).

・Provide training, define roles, set expectations, and establish a high-performance culture.

・Lead and manage the team to achieve business targets and project milestones.

  1. Leadership & Self-Driven Execution

・Operate with full ownership and responsibility for business outcomes.

・Identify problems proactively and propose solutions with clear action plans.

・Drive execution independently while ensuring alignment with HQ and internal stakeholders.

・Establish the Thailand biochar business as a scalable, revenue-generating operation.

Require Qualifications

・5+ years of experience in business development, project management, operations, or related fields.

・Demonstrated track record in 0→1 business building or highly autonomous project ownership.

・Strong stakeholder management skills across farmers, manufacturers, government, and investors.

・Ability to build financial models and analyze project feasibility independently.

・Proficiency in Thai and English (written and spoken).

・Strong analytical thinking, execution ability, and leadership mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

・Experience in biochar, biomass, renewable energy, agriculture, or climate-related sectors.

・Knowledge of carbon credit systems (Puro Earth, Isometric, Verra).

・Experience in investor relations, fundraising, or project finance.

・On-the-ground operational experience (factories, production processes, field projects).

・Startup or corporate innovation experience.

・Japanese language ability is a plus but not required.

Why Join Us?

This role allows you to directly shape and lead Green Carbon’s biochar business in Thailand.

You will have the opportunity to design the strategy, build the team, secure partnerships, and scale a business with real climate impact and strong commercial potential.

If you are passionate about climate solutions and have the drive to build a business from the ground up, we would love to hear from you.
