Serova builds personalized cancer vaccines. Each vaccine is made for the individual patient from their own samples and given in partnership with their treating physician.

The role

We work directly with patients, more like a consumer health company than a hospital. Patients and their physicians come to us with questions about their own data.

You'll answer ad hoc requests on a patient's sequencing and test results quickly, and turn the answers into something they can understand and act on.

Who you are

• A bioinformatician who likes being close to the patient
• You turn around a question on one patient's data in hours, not weeks
• You can explain a result to someone who isn't a scientist
• High agency, friendly and low ego

Requirements

• A PhD in bioinformatics or computational biology, or 3+ years doing it in industry
• Hands-on experience with real patient sequencing data: WES, WGS or RNA-seq
• Based in the San Francisco Bay Area or London, or willing to relocate
• Authorized to work in the US or UK, or a realistic path to get there

What will make you stand out

• Startup software engineering: you've shipped production code in a small team, not only academic pipelines
• Patient-facing or clinical genomics, such as clinical reporting, tumor boards, or answering questions for patients and physicians
• Cancer genomics: somatic variants, HLA typing, neoantigen prediction, ctDNA
• Experience at a sequencing platform or diagnostics company
• Comfort with quick, well-documented ad hoc analyses, not only long projects
• Clear communication with patients, physicians and care teams
