Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and analytical Bioinformatics Engineer to support the development of computational tools, biological data analysis pipelines, and software solutions for life sciences and biotechnology applications. The ideal candidate should have a combination of programming skills, biological knowledge, data analysis capabilities, and an interest in computational biology.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for biological data processing and analysis.
• Analyze genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and other biological datasets.
• Process and interpret sequencing data, including next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, where applicable.
• Develop scripts and tools using Python, R, or other suitable programming languages.
• Perform data cleaning, statistical analysis, visualization, and quality control.
• Work with biological databases and sequence analysis tools.
• Automate data-processing workflows and improve computational efficiency.
• Collaborate with biologists, biomedical researchers, data scientists, and software engineers.
• Document workflows, analysis methods, and results for reproducibility.
• Follow data quality, research integrity, and applicable data privacy requirements.

Required Technical Skills

• Programming knowledge in Python and/or R.
• Understanding of molecular biology, genetics, genomics, and biological data.
• Familiarity with biological sequence analysis, including DNA, RNA, and protein sequences.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and basic statistical analysis.
• Understanding of biological databases and common bioinformatics file formats, such as FASTA, FASTQ, SAM/BAM, and VCF, depending on the project.
• Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix commands and command-line tools.
• Ability to analyze complex datasets and interpret results.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with tools such as BLAST, BWA, Bowtie, samtools, GATK, or Bioconductor, depending on the project.
• Knowledge of NGS data analysis and genomic variant analysis.
• Exposure to workflow management tools such as Nextflow or Snakemake.
• Familiarity with SQL, Git, and data visualization libraries.
• Basic understanding of cloud computing, Docker, or high-performance computing (HPC).
• Experience with machine learning applied to biological datasets is an advantage.

Educational Qualification

• B.E./B.Tech, M.Sc., M.Tech, or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Candidates should have relevant coursework, projects, internships, or experience in bioinformatics and biological data analysis.

Experience Requirements

• Freshers: Candidates with relevant academic projects, internships, or practical exposure to Python/R and biological data analysis are encouraged to apply.
• Experienced Candidates: 13 years of experience in bioinformatics pipeline development, genomic data analysis, computational biology, or related areas.
