What they need
The Role
We’re looking for a motivated Blending Operator to join our production team. Blending sits at the heart of this role. You will produce the finished liquid that supplies every filling line on site, from bottling and canning to kegging and bulk despatch. You will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate manufacture of spirits, liqueurs, RTDs, non-alcoholic drinks and prebatch cocktails, syrups, and related products for supply into bottling, canning, kegging and bulk operations, ensuring compliance with recipes, SOPs, HACCP, GMP, BRC and quality standards. You will play a key role in delivering the production plan while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and traceability.
What You’ll Be Doing
Core Blending Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor blending and processing activities, ensuring batch accuracy and process control.
- Weigh ingredients and additions precisely according to recipe specifications.
- Carry out alcohol strength verification and dilution calculations for applicable products. Full training provided by the Operations Manager for any gaps in experience.
- Follow standardised blend sheets as issued and report any discrepancy between the sheet and materials or quantities on the floor before proceeding.
- Transfer from blending tanks to pre-bottling vessels following standard procedures.
- Monitor pasteurisation progress, document key parameters, and escalate abnormalities.
- Perform a range of filtration processes and related liquid transfers to maintain product quality.
- Conduct CIP of all equipment, ensuring cleaning cycles meet hygiene standards.
Liquid area and Blending Room
- Maintain accurate stock control and records for all liquid ingredients.
- Measure beverage ingredients precisely to meet recipe and product specifications.
- Produce beverages and ensure consistent supply to the bottling, canning and kegging lines.
- Complete CIP of liquid handling systems, bottling and canning fillers and equipment to maintain product safety and hygiene.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Manage stock control and storage of materials and ingredients, ensuring accurate usage and traceability.
- Maintain precise and compliant record-keeping to support operational, quality, and audit requirements, including accurate entry of batch and production data into the site’s MRP system.
- Follow all food safety, HACCP, GMP and BRC procedures during blending and packaging activities, ensuring equipment, work areas, and handling practices meet required hygiene and quality standards.
- Understand and apply the site’s allergen control procedures, including segregation and changeover checks between products, to prevent cross-contact. Overall ownership sits with the Blending Manager and Operations Manager, but consistent day-to-day application is a core part of this role.
- Recognise that non-alcoholic and RTD products carry a different microbiological risk profile to alcohol-stable products, and apply hygiene and handling practices accordingly.
- Follow PPE, COSHH and manual handling requirements when working with cleaning chemicals, acids and colourants.
- Monitor designated Critical Control Points (CCPs), accurately record results, and immediately report any deviations to maintain product safety and process integrity.
- Use the site Quality Control system for sample logging, test results, and process verification.
Filtration
- Operate liquid filters and associated filtration equipment safely and according to procedures.
- Transfer bright tanks to the bottling, canning and kegging lines, and to bulk despatch where required, while maintaining quality and line readiness.
- Perform CIP of filters, product mains, and bright tanks to maintain hygiene and quality standards.
What We’re Looking For
Experience
- Previous experience in beverage food production or manufacturing is essential; full training is provided for specific skill gaps during the 6-month probation period.
- Candidates from craft brewing, soft drinks, dairy processing, water bottling, or sauces and condiments manufacturing are particularly well suited, bringing directly transferable recipe, CIP and hygiene discipline.
- Forklift licence desirable; training can be provided on site.
- Comfortable using basic computer systems and able to learn site‑specific software.
Key Behaviours
- Demonstrates strong awareness of health, safety, and food‑safety standards.
- Understands the importance of allergen control and consistently applies site procedures to prevent cross-contact.
- Communicates clearly and respectfully with colleagues across teams and shifts.
- Works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Shows initiative in problem‑solving and managing daily tasks while following established procedures.
- Maintains a positive attitude, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new processes.
Functional Competencies
- Ability to follow detailed instructions, SOPs, BRC and HACCP requirements accurately.
- Good time‑management and organisational skills to support efficient production flow.
- Sound decision‑making when identifying issues or escalating concerns.
- Willingness to develop testing and specification verification skills; the Operations Manager will lead training in this area for any gaps in prior experience.
- Able to lift up to 25kg as part of routine handling of ingredients and materials.
Application Process
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews, and we’ll keep you updated throughout the process.
