BMS Project Manager – Data Centre Construction

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced BMS Project Manager to join a leading international Data Centre construction contractor delivering a major hyperscale project in Finland.

The successful candidate will take full ownership of the BMS, EPMS, ELV, ICT and Fire Alarm packages , overseeing technical coordination, subcontractor management, installation, systems integration, commissioning and final handover.

This is a senior site-based leadership position requiring strong technical expertise, commercial awareness and experience delivering complex building systems on major construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Project & Package Management

• Take overall responsibility for the delivery of BMS, EPMS, ELV, ICT and Fire Alarm systems throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage specialist subcontractors, vendors and systems integrators.
• Oversee installation programmes, procurement schedules, resources and project milestones.
• Monitor budgets, variations, commercial risks and subcontractor performance.
• Ensure compliance with project safety, quality and regulatory requirements.

Technical & Design Coordination

• Coordinate technical designs, drawings, specifications and equipment schedules.
• Manage interfaces between BMS, electrical, mechanical, CSA and commissioning teams.
• Oversee HVAC controls, plant automation, electrical power monitoring and integrated building systems.
• Coordinate operational technology networks, structured cabling, fibre infrastructure and system connectivity.
• Support BIM coordination and technical design reviews.
• Ensure appropriate cybersecurity coordination and operational technology network requirements are addressed.

Testing, Commissioning & Handover

• Oversee BMS installation, testing, commissioning and systems integration.
• Coordinate FAT, SAT, functional testing and Level 1–5 commissioning activities.
• Manage Fire Alarm interfaces, Cause and Effect testing and life-safety systems integration.
• Coordinate Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Manage quality inspections, snagging, technical documentation and defect resolution.
• Ensure successful handover, including O&M manuals, as-built drawings, training and client demonstrations.

Essential Requirements

• Degree or recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, Automation, Controls or a related discipline.
• 8–10 years of relevant experience delivering BMS, EPMS, ELV, ICT, controls or Fire Alarm systems on major construction projects.
• Minimum 5 years in project, package or technical leadership.
• Strong understanding of BMS, EPMS, HVAC controls, building automation and systems integration.
• Experience managing subcontractors, technical vendors and specialist system integrators.
• Knowledge of structured cabling, fibre-optic infrastructure and ICT systems.
• Proven experience in testing, commissioning and project handover.
• Strong project planning, procurement, commercial and risk-management skills.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder-management abilities.

Desirable Experience

• Previous Data Centre, hyperscale or mission-critical construction experience.
• Knowledge of major BMS and EPMS platforms.
• Operational Technology (OT) networks and systems integration.
• BIM, Revit or Navisworks experience.
• Complex Integrated Systems Testing (IST) programmes.
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent accreditation.
