About the Role

Ultramech Ltd is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated BMS Engineer to support our expanding Facilities Management operations across the UK.

This is a varied, hands-on position combining routine BMS maintenance, fault finding, system improvements and the independent delivery of smaller BMS projects.

The successful candidate will work alongside our established specialist BMS subcontractors on larger and more complex projects, whilst taking responsibility for planning, managing and completing smaller installations, modifications and remedial works independently.

We are looking for a practical, technically competent engineer who is confident taking ownership of projects from initial assessment through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake BMS planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault finding and reactive repairs across multiple UK sites.
• Independently manage and deliver smaller BMS projects, including installations, modifications, upgrades and commissioning.
• Work alongside existing specialist subcontractors on larger BMS projects and more complex system works.
• Diagnose and rectify BMS control, communication and operational faults.
• Carry out BMS controller replacements, sensor installations, control panel modifications and associated works within competency.
• Undertake BMS programming, configuration and adjustments where required.
• Assist with the integration and optimisation of HVAC plant and building services.
• Identify opportunities for system improvements, energy efficiency and preventative maintenance.
• Survey sites, establish work requirements and assist with technical specifications and quotations.
• Produce accurate service reports, commissioning records and project documentation.
• Liaise professionally with clients, site management, subcontractors and the Ultramech team.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

• Previous experience as a BMS Engineer, Controls Engineer or similar.
• Strong understanding of BMS controls, HVAC systems and associated mechanical and electrical plant.
• Proven ability to independently undertake smaller BMS installations, modifications and commissioning works.
• Competence in BMS fault finding, diagnostics and system maintenance.
• Experience with BMS programming and controller configuration.
• Ability to organise and complete projects with minimal supervision.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the UK.

Desirable:

• Experience with Trend, Tridium, Siemens, Schneider or other recognised BMS platforms.
• Relevant electrical, controls or building services qualifications.
• Experience within commercial buildings, student accommodation or facilities management environments.
• Knowledge of BMS networking, communications protocols and energy management.
