BO Chargeman

Job Purpose

To serve as the registered competent person (BO Chargeman) with the Suruhanjaya Tenaga for the Hospital, and to lead the technical team in managing all Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) systems within the Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure fire safety compliance and maintain all fire equipment, electrical fittings, lighting, and air conditioning systems.
• Supervise building maintenance and external contractors, including quotation evaluation and work recommendation.
• Conduct regular inspections and respond promptly to maintenance issues.
• Oversee repair and maintenance of all mechanical and electrical systems.
• Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and electrical components.
• Perform installation of minor electrical works and air conditioning units in compliance with regulations.
• Plan, monitor, and execute Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedules.
• Manage energy usage and propose cost-saving initiatives; participate in the energy committee.
• Perform monthly generator load and no-load testing as per ST and MOH requirements.
• Carry out testing and commissioning of systems when required.
• Supervise and manage the technical team, including manpower planning.
• Prepare annual OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
• Ensure timely submission of all statutory requirements (ST, JKKP, fire certificates, etc.).
• Liaise with local authorities for compliance and utility support.
• Monitor renovation and special projects.
• Ensure quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
• Participate in quality improvement and risk management initiatives.

Job Requirements

• Minimum SPM or equivalent qualification.
• Possess a valid Chargeman (BO) certificate issued by the Energy Commission of Malaysia (Suruhanjaya Tenaga).
• Minimum 5 years of working experience in LV installation, electrical maintenance, and troubleshooting of M&E systems.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, and preventive maintenance practices.
• Familiar with regulatory and statutory compliance requirements (ST, JKKP, etc.).
• Hands-on experience in installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance works.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good leadership skills with ability to supervise and guide a technical team.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English (both written and spoken).
• Willing to work overtime, shifts, and on-call when required.
• High level of integrity, responsibility, and teamwork attitude.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
