What they need

Some BCBAs know the community they want to serve and the kind of practice they would build there. They are already mentoring RBTs, earning the trust of families, and making the clinical decisions that keep care moving.

They have the experience and a point of view. What they haven't had is a clear path to put those things toward a local practice of their own.

Headstart Health helps experienced BCBAs launch and lead local in-home ABA practices throughout the Charlotte area of North Carolina. You shape the clinical model, build the team, and decide how families will be served. We provide payer access, business education, systems, and ongoing support that help turn that vision into a functioning practice.

Headstart is for BCBAs, by BCBAs. BCBAs lead every department here, and we have started, led, and scaled ABA companies ourselves. We are opening up the support we wish had existed when we started.

Build the ABA practice you wish existed, in the community you call home, without having to figure out every part alone.

Your Role

  • Provide evidence-based ABA services and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Supervise and guide RBTs in delivering consistent, high-quality care.
  • Establish the clinical standards and culture of the practice.
  • Manage your caseload and schedule with flexibility and autonomy.
  • Build relationships with families, local referral partners, and your team.
  • Make decisions about how the practice grows and how care is delivered.

What You Bring

  • Active BCBA certification and North Carolina behavior analyst license.
  • At least two years of experience as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
  • Current residence in or near Charlotte, North Carolina.
  • A commitment to delivering ethical, family-centered ABA services.
  • Experience mentoring RBTs, leading teams, or managing clinical programs.
  • A clear point of view about what ABA care should look like in your community.
  • The initiative to build and lead with an experienced team beside you.

What We Provide

  • Practice Launch Support: Guidance with LLC formation, credentialing, payer setup, and financial preparation.
  • Payer Access: Access to insurance contracts and support throughout credentialing.
  • Client Intake and Authorizations: Benefit verification, documentation collection, family communication, and authorization management.
  • Billing Support: Claims submission, payment posting, denials, accounts receivable, family invoicing, and visibility into billing activity.
  • RBT Recruiting: Candidate sourcing, first-round interviews, and support building a local team.
  • Software and Systems: Tools for data collection, scheduling, authorizations, family communication, utilization, and business visibility.
  • Growth Support: Brand positioning, digital marketing, local referral development, and client-acquisition strategy.
  • Education and Mentorship: ABA Business Bootcamp, ongoing guidance, CEUs, peer roundtables, and access to BCBAs who have built practices before.
  • Financial Backing: Access to recruiting incentives and eligible cash-flow support as the practice grows.

And honestly, so much more. This isn't a checklist followed by "good luck." We stay beside the BCBA as the questions change and the practice grows.

Why Headstart?

The strongest clinical leaders are already helping ABA companies succeed. Headstart gives them the infrastructure and guidance to put that experience toward a practice that reflects their values and serves their local community.

You bring the clinical vision, leadership, and determination. We help put the business pieces in the right order.

Job Type: Full-time or Part-time

Setting: In-home and community-based

Compensation: $185,000–$250,000 annualized potential. Actual earnings depend on the practice and are not a guaranteed salary.

Work Location: Local in-home and community-based services throughout the Charlotte area of North Carolina.

A finished business plan or practice name isn't required. Bring the vision, the questions, and the parts that still feel unclear. We'll help make the next steps practical.
