Body and Paint Manager

Key responsibilities

1. Oversee all body shop and paint department operations, ensuring work is completed to the highest quality standards and within agreed timelines
2. Manage, train, supervise and develop body shop technicians and paint specialists, including performance evaluations and identification of training needs
3. Monitor workflow and resource allocation to optimise productivity and minimise downtime
4. Ensure strict adherence to health, safety and environmental regulations within the workshop
5. Conduct quality inspections on all completed vehicle repairs and paintwork before customer handover
6. Maintain accurate documentation and records of all repair jobs, materials used and labour hours
7. Liaise with customers, insurance companies and other departments to manage expectations and resolve issues
8. Control inventory of spare parts, paint materials and workshop supplies, ensuring cost-effectiveness
9. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste
10. Report on departmental performance metrics and prepare management reports as required

What we're looking for

1. Minimum 3+ years of experience in automotive body shop and paint operations management
2. In-depth knowledge of vehicle body repair techniques, paint application processes and finishing standards
3. Proven track record of successfully managing and motivating technical teams
4. Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance in automotive workshops
5. Proficiency in workshop management software and administrative systems
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, staff and management
7. Problem-solving abilities and strong attention to detail
8. Knowledge of automotive paint systems, colour matching and spray techniques
9. Certification or qualifications in automotive body repair or paint technology would be advantageous
10. Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia
