Boilermaker – Structural Maintenance | FIFO Pilbara

Doolee Construction is seeking experienced Boilermakers / Welders to join our team for an upcoming long-term project in the Pilbara, Western Australia.

This is an opportunity for experienced tradespeople who enjoy hands-on structural maintenance, repair and fabrication work within an operating mining environment.

About the Role

Working as part of our site-based maintenance and construction crew, you will undertake a variety of structural steel, platework and fabrication repairs throughout the processing plant.

The role will include:

• Structural steel repairs and modifications
• Steel plating and patch repairs
• Fabrication and installation of structural steel
• Tank and vessel repairs
• Replacement of worn or damaged steelwork
• Repairs to chutes, platforms, walkways, handrails and access structures
• Welding and fabrication to engineering drawings and specifications
• Cutting, gouging, grinding and preparation of steelwork
• Installation of brackets, supports and stiffeners
• General maintenance and repair works throughout the processing plant
• Working at heights and in confined spaces where required
• Working closely with supervisors, engineers and other trades to safely complete planned and reactive works

No two days will necessarily be the same, with the role covering a broad range of structural repairs and maintenance activities across the plant.

About You

We are looking for experienced Boilermakers who have a strong background in structural steel maintenance, mining maintenance or heavy industrial fabrication.

To be successful, you will have:

• Australian recognised Boilermaker / Fabrication trade qualification
• Demonstrated experience in structural steel repairs and maintenance
• Strong welding and fabrication skills
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Experience with platework, structural steel and general fabrication
• Mining or heavy industrial experience
• Strong commitment to safety and quality
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small crew
• Good communication skills and a proactive approach to getting the job done

Highly regarded

• Previous experience working on processing plants
• Experience with tank, chute or vessel repairs
• Experience with structural steel remediation
• Previous FIFO mining experience
• Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets
• EWP, Forklift or Dogging/Rigging tickets
• Current mining medical and relevant site inductions
