Bonded Grinding Operator

Continental Diamond Tool was established in 1973, in New Haven, Indiana. We are a superabrasive specialist that provides custom cutting, polishing and grinding tools to multiple industries. It is our policy to fully satisfy our customers’ needs and expectations on an on-going basis.

Position Summary

The Bonded Grinding Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining metal bond, vitrified bond and resin bond grinding machines to produce high-quality precision parts. This will include tasks such as turning, drilling, grinding and polishing. This role requires attention to detail, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate metal bond, vitrified bond and resin bond grinding machines to grind and finish precision parts according to specifications.
• Set up and adjust grinding machines, including selecting and installing grinding wheels and adjusting machine settings.
• Required to read, understand, and follow work orders and engineering drawings.
• Ability to inspect the product using scales, calipers, micrometers, bore gages, comparators and other equipment as needed.
• Ability to select the proper work holding and tooling needed for optimum productivity.
• Ability to recognize, trouble shoot and correct noncompliant products
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations, and properly using and maintaining PPE.
• Required to meet standard productivity requirements.
• Inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality, using precision measuring tools such as scales, Calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, comparators and other equipment as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance on grinding machines to ensure optimal performance.
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
• Document production activities and maintain accurate records.
• Perform other duties as required.

Preferred Skills:

• Safely run and use required equipment.
• Required to read and understand work instructions, paperwork, and drawings.
• High school diploma or GED; technical training in machining or grinding preferred.
• Proven experience as a grinding operator, preferably with resin bond grinding machines.
• Strong understanding of grinding processes and techniques.
• Proficiency in using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Personal Attributes:

• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• 3+ years of related experience preferred.
• High level of interpersonal communication skills.
• Good computer skills; excel, word, ERP systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and have sound judgement.

Physical Demands

• Stand for extended periods of time.
• Seldom required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50lbs).

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour

Experience:

• Precision Grinding: 1 year (Preferred)
