About the role

Afirmo Tax Limited is seeking experienced Book keepers to join our team on a part-time or full-time basis. There are multiple roles as Afirmo is in a high growth phase. As an Afirmo Book keeper, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. You will work alongside the AI business automation tools that we are pioneering.

Key responsibilities

• Helping customers migrate from other legacy accounting systems
• Recording and classifying financial transactions in the Afirmo accounting and tax software
• Processing invoices, purchase orders, and payments
• Reconciling bank statements and accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies
• Preparing and maintaining general ledgers and subsidiary ledgers
• Processing payroll information and ensuring compliance with employment requirements
• Assisting with the preparation of financial statements and trial balances
• Managing accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
• Maintaining organised and up-to-date financial documentation and records
• Communicating with clients regarding account queries and providing support with financial information requests
• Supporting tax preparation processes by ensuring financial records are accurate and complete

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working as a Book keeper or in a similar bookkeeping role, preferably within a small practice accounting environment
• Proficiency with bookkeeping software and accounting packages such as Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, accounting standards, and financial reporting requirements
• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in all financial records
• Competent numeracy skills and the ability to work with complex financial data
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously
• Professional communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• A proactive attitude and willingness to support team members and clients
• Relevant bookkeeping qualifications or certifications (such as AAT or NZQF Level 3 or above) are advantageous
