About the role

Broderick W Co. is looking for an experienced and organised Bookkeeper / Accounts Officer to join our team on a part-time basis.

We are a busy and growing business operating within the heavy automotive electrical industry and are looking for someone who can confidently take ownership of our day-to-day bookkeeping and accounts function.

The role is approximately 15–16 hours per week across 2 days, with some flexibility around how the hours are structured and the potential for additional hours as the business grows.

You will work closely with management and our external accountant while independently managing the day-to-day accounts function.

Key responsibilities

  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Processing and reviewing supplier invoices and purchase orders
  • Managing supplier accounts and payment schedules
  • Preparing supplier payment runs for management review and approval
  • Customer invoicing and statements
  • Following up outstanding accounts
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Payroll processing and superannuation
  • Maintaining accurate financial records in Xero
  • Working with Simpro to review purchase orders, supplier invoices, job costs and customer invoicing
  • Ensuring information is accurately processed between Simpro and Xero
  • Reviewing job-related costs and identifying discrepancies
  • Preparing accurate records and information for BAS and our external accountant
  • Keeping the accounts function organised, accurate and up to date

About you

We are looking for someone who is experienced, reliable and comfortable working independently.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous experience in a bookkeeping, accounts or similar role
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations
  • Good understanding of Australian payroll, superannuation and GST requirements
  • Experience working with purchase orders and job-related costing
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Confidence communicating with customers and suppliers regarding accounts
  • The ability to identify what needs to be done and manage your workload with minimal supervision
  • A practical and proactive approach to problem solving

Experience with Simpro or similar job management software would be highly regarded; however, training can be provided.

Experience within the automotive, mining, trades or service industries would also be advantageous but is not essential.
