Bookkeeper and Payroll Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Bookkeeper and Payroll Specialist to join our team. Duties

• Maintain accurate general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation using accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar software.
• Process payroll accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while managing deductions, benefits, taxes, and other payroll components.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely payments and collections.
• Reconcile bank statements and perform account reconciliation to verify the accuracy of financial data.
• Prepare detailed financial reports, including budgeting summaries, financial statements, and audit documentation in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Assist with governmental accounting requirements and tax filings as needed.
• Utilize spreadsheets for data analysis, reporting, and tracking financial transactions efficiently.
• Support internal audits by maintaining organized records of all financial transactions and documentation.
• Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits to provide necessary documentation and explanations.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices in bookkeeping and payroll processing.

Requirements

• Proven experience in bookkeeping, payroll processing, or related accounting roles within corporate or non-profit environments.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of GAAP standards, double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, debits & credits, and general ledger reconciliation.
• Experience with payroll systems and processing including tax filings and benefit deductions.
• Familiarity with governmental accounting procedures and tax regulations applicable to non-profit or public organizations.
• Skilled in using spreadsheets for data analysis, reporting, and account management; high proficiency in 10-key typing for data entry accuracy.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to perform bank reconciliations accurately under tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of financial concepts such as budgeting, account analysis, and financial report writing is highly desirable.
• Strong organizational skills combined with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $25.77 - $31.03 per hour
