Bookkeeper

The ideal candidate will be well organized and comfortable dealing with financial data. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the accounts payable and receivable, processing payroll and conducting other tasks related to finance. They should be excellent at recording data and have an ability to product clear financial reports. You must have previous experience in a US law firm, handling Invoicing, AP/AR, and using Stripe.

Important: This is a full English-speaking role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for trust accounts, including recording income, expenses, and asset transactions.
• Process incoming and outgoing financial transactions related to trust accounts, including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers.
• Monitor trust account activity to ensure compliance with trust law, regulations, and internal policies, flagging any potential issues or discrepancies for review.
• Maintain organized and complete documentation of transactions, correspondence, and legal documents.
• Collaborate with attorneys, trustees, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders to address inquiries, provide financial information, and facilitate the resolution of trust-related matters.
• Stay informed about changes and updates to trust law, regulations, and best practices, ensuring that trust account activities remain in compliance with legal requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Proven experience in bookkeeping for a law firm, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Specialized knowledge of trust law and regulations, with experience working with trust accounts and familiarity with fiduciary responsibilities is a plus!
• Knowledge in bookkeeping software and tools, such as QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, discretion, and ethical standards in handling sensitive financial information.
