About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join the Finance team at Matias H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine. This is a full-time position based in Guadalupe, Cebu City, Cebu. As Bookkeeper, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of our institution by managing daily financial transactions, record-keeping, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position is essential to supporting the college's mission of providing quality medical education whilst maintaining robust financial operations.

What you'll be doing

• Recording and posting financial transactions including invoices, receipts, and payments in the accounting system
• Reconciling bank statements, cash registers, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies
• Preparing and processing payroll information, ensuring timely and accurate employee compensation
• Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice verification and payment processing
• Maintaining organized and comprehensive financial records and documentation in compliance with institutional policies
• Assisting in the preparation of financial reports, trial balances, and reconciliation statements
• Processing purchase orders and monitoring departmental expenditures against approved budgets
• Supporting the accounting team with month-end and year-end closing procedures
• Liaising with vendors, creditors, and internal departments to resolve financial discrepancies and queries
• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting principles and institutional financial policies

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related field
• Proven experience working as a Bookkeeper or in an accounting clerk role, preferably within an educational or healthcare institution
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping
• Excellent attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy in financial records
• Solid numerical and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple financial transactions
• Strong organisational abilities and capability to meet strict deadlines
• Professional communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across departments
• Integrity and trustworthiness when handling sensitive financial information
• Knowledge of Philippine tax regulations and accounting standards is advantageous
