Bookkeeper

Mermade Hair is an award-winning Australian hair and beauty brand founded in Perth in 2019. We have grown rapidly across Australia and internationally, with retail partners and customers across the USA, UK, Europe, New Zealand and other global markets.

We are looking for an experienced, highly organised and commercially minded Bookkeeper to join our Perth head office full-time.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who loves keeping the numbers organised, understands the importance of accuracy and follow-up, and is confident working within a fast-moving international retail business.

The Role

Working closely with our finance, sales and operations teams, you will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and accounts function across our Australian and international business.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing accounts receivable and accounts payable
• Raising and issuing invoices across retail, wholesale, marketplace and B2B customers
• Allocating and reconciling incoming payments
• Maintaining debtor ageing reports and actively following up outstanding accounts
• Managing retailer payment discrepancies, short payments, deductions, chargebacks and disputes
• Bank and credit card reconciliations
• Supplier invoice processing and payment preparation
• Reconciliation of accounting systems, payment processors and other platforms
• Assisting with month-end reconciliations, journals and accruals
• Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation
• Managing foreign currency transactions and international payments/accounts
• Working with overseas customers, retailers, distributors and suppliers across multiple currencies
• Supporting our accountant and wider finance team with reporting and ad hoc finance requirements
• Liaising with our sales, orders, operations and customer service teams to resolve account queries quickly

We are looking for someone who is confident, detail-oriented and comfortable taking ownership of their work.

You will ideally have:

• Strong bookkeeping experience, ideally within retail, ecommerce, wholesale or a product-based business
• Advanced proficiency in Xero is essential
• Experience working with international transactions and multiple currencies
• Experience dealing with large retailers, wholesale customers or complex customer accounts
• Strong accounts receivable and reconciliation experience
• Confidence investigating discrepancies and resolving payment issues
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong Excel skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The confidence to pick up the phone and follow up customers when required
• The ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Experience with CIN7 is highly regarded.

Experience with international retailers, ecommerce platforms, payment gateways or foreign currency transactions would also be highly advantageous.
