Fast-Paced Manufacturing Business

We are looking for an experienced, highly competent and detail-driven Bookkeeper to join our finance team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on position suited to an individual who is confident working independently, technically strong, highly proficient in Pastel and Excel, and able to take ownership of the full bookkeeping function.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a high-volume environment where accuracy, deadlines and attention to detail are non-negotiable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the full bookkeeping function from source documentation through to trial balance.
• Process and maintain accurate debtors, creditors, cashbook and general ledger transactions.
• Perform detailed bank, creditor, debtor and general ledger reconciliations.
• Be able toprocess supplier payments and EFTs in accordance with company procedures as required
• Reconcile supplier statements and investigate and resolve discrepancies if needed.
• Monitor outstanding debtor accounts and assist with effective credit control if needed.
• Process invoices, purchase orders, receipts, journals and other financial transactions accurately and timeously.
• Assist with monthly management reporting and month-end procedures.
• Prepare supporting schedules, reconciliations and working papers for management and external accountants/auditors.
• Assist with VAT reconciliations and SARS submissions where required.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure that all transactions are properly supported and allocated.
• Assist with stock reconciliations and stock control, ensuring that financial records agree with physical/operational records.
• Work closely with production, procurement, sales and management to resolve financial and operational discrepancies.
• Identify errors, irregularities and variances and proactively investigate and resolve them.
• Assist with improving financial controls, processes and reporting.
• Provide accurate financial information and ad-hoc analysis to management when required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years' proven bookkeeping experience, preferably in a manufacturing, production, distribution or similarly high-volume environment.
• Proven experience managing a full-function bookkeeping role.
• Strong, demonstrable proficiency in Pastel/Sage. The successful candidate must be able to work confidently and independently on the system rather than require extensive training.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping processes.
• Strong experience with reconciliations, creditors, debtors, cashbook and general ledger.
• Experience with VAT and SARS requirements.
• Experience with stock/inventory accounting or manufacturing processes will be highly advantageous.
• Experience with payroll and statutory submissions would be advantageous.
• Matric with Accounting and/or a relevant bookkeeping/accounting qualification preferred.
