JMT Petroleum is a 100% family-owned wholesale fuel distributor based in Chewelah, WA. For over 40 years we've supplied fuel across Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. We're a small team, so this role has real ownership and works directly with the owners.

The Role
We're looking for a Bookkeeper to keep our books clean and our monthly reporting on time. You'll own bank reconciliations, help close the books each month, and prepare the recurring tax and regulatory filings that keep the business compliant. If you like getting the numbers right and staying ahead of deadlines, this is a good fit.

What You'll Do

• Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts every month and chase down any discrepancies
• Prepare and file monthly sales and excise tax returns
• Prepare fuel tax and other recurring state reports, and keep a calendar of every filing deadline
• Help prepare quarterly and annual Washington Clean Fuel Standard (CFS) reports
• Support month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Review accounts payable and receivable activity for accuracy
• Work with our outside CPA on year-end and tax prep
• Help build out financial reporting as we move to a new accounting system (iRely)

What We're Looking For

• Associate degree in Accounting or a related field (required)
• 1+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
• Understanding of basic accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups)
• Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable with deadlines
• Nice to have: sales or excise tax filing experience, fuel or distribution industry background, or ERP system experience

Pay: $17.50 - $21.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
