Bookkeeper

About the role

slca is a boutique, well established CA firm that provides accounting and related services to large super funds. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. This is a permanent part-time position working remotely. You will play a crucial part in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the smooth operation of our accounting functions for a group of clients. Working approximately 30-40 hours per month you must have flexibility to attend to client matters as they arise.

What you'll be doing

• Accounts payable management, including maintaining suppliers, processing invoices, obtaining approvals and attending to payments using Xero accurately and on a timely basis
• Reconciling bank accounts and credit cards
• Processing payroll and ensuring compliance with STP filings, payday super and payroll taxes
• Liaising with clients and internal teams regarding AP and payroll matters and queries
• Ad-hoc financial analysis to support the accountants

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably within an accounting firm or professional services environment
• Strong proficiency with Xero
• Experience in accounts payable management
• Previous Xero payroll experience, including knowledge of STP, PAYG withholding, payday super and payroll tax obligations and lodgements
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy when working with numerical data
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Professional communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members and clients
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a part-time capacity
