Bookkeeper

About the role

To maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records in Xero, primarily through processing bank transactions, reconciling bank accounts, and maintaining books of accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Record receipts and payments in Xero based on bank feeds, bank statements and supporting documents.
• Review and correctly code bank-feed transactions to the appropriate accounts.
• Perform regular bank reconciliations for all company bank accounts and investigate differences.
• Identify and resolve or report unmatched, duplicate, missing and unexplained transactions.
• Ensure transfers between bank accounts are correctly recorded without duplication.
• Record and maintain employee/project advances and their subsequent settlements.
• Reconcile outstanding advances and follow up on long-outstanding balances.
• Maintain accurate and complete general ledger records in Xero.
• Ensure all transactions are supported by appropriate documentation.
• Perform month-end bookkeeping and reconciliations.

About you

• Practical bookkeeping experience, preferably in construction or real estate.
• Working knowledge Accounting Software (Xero) and bank reconciliation.
• Understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.
• Good Excel skills.
• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Ability to identify and investigate discrepancies.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
