Bookkeeper

Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church is seeking an experienced, dependable bookkeeper to support the financial life of our congregation. This position works closely with the Treasurer to keep records accurate and current, pay bills on time, prepare financial reports, and help develop the annual budget.

Schedule and pay: Approximately 12 hours per week, with specific days to be determined. Pay is $18–$22 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include 12 hours of paid time off and six paid holidays.

Responsibilities include:

• Record and pay bills, maintain receipts and financial records, and reconcile accounts with the Treasurer.
• Prepare monthly and year-end financial reports.
• Develop an initial annual budget with input from ministry teams.
• Coordinate with the Financial Secretary on contribution records and provide information for stewardship, audit, endowment, and other church groups.
• Maintain clear, current documentation of bookkeeping procedures.

Applicants should have previous bookkeeping experience, strong Microsoft Excel skills, Quickbooks skills, basic Microsoft Word and email skills, and a high school diploma or GED. Experience with PowerChurch is helpful; training will be provided. The person in this role must be accurate, organized, discreet with confidential information, and comfortable working cooperatively with others.
