Established in 1985, Basnight Land & Lawn, Inc. is an award-winning, full-service outdoor contractor serving residential and commercial clients throughout Virginia and North Carolina. We are seeking an experienced, dependable, detail-oriented Bookkeeper to maintain accurate financial records and support our accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

Banking & Account Reconciliation

· Reconcile all company bank accounts and credit card statements monthly.

· Investigate discrepancies and monitor outstanding checks, deposits, and uncleared transactions.

· Maintain accurate, current records of financial transactions.

Accounts Payable

· Review, code, and enter vendor invoices into QuickBooks; match invoices with purchase orders.

· Reconcile vendor statements, resolve discrepancies, and maintain vendor accounts.

· Prepare vendor payments, including checks and ACH transactions, and respond to vendor inquiries.

General Bookkeeping & Accounting

· Prepare journal entries, account adjustments, and general ledger reconciliations.

· Support month-end close, financial reports, and organized accounting documentation.

· Assist with accounts receivable, customer payment posting, and account reconciliation as needed.

· Perform other related accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

· Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience; strong understanding of bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and general ledger accounting.

· Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.

· Accuracy, organization, confidentiality, independent judgment, and ability to meet deadlines.

· Professional communication and effective time-management skills.

Preferred

· QuickBooks Desktop experience and experience with multiple bank accounts or high-volume transactions.

· Experience with journal entries and month-end closing.

· Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; equivalent work experience considered.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary: $55,000–$65,000 based on qualifications and experience. Full-time salaried position. Medical and dental insurance available; paid holidays, vacation, and sick time.
