COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Skingevity is a company acquiring and scaling medical aesthetics clinics across the UK. Our strategy is simple but powerful: consolidate a fragmented, high-growth industry by backing great clinicians and improving operations. We’re founded by a former BCG Principal with deep experience in strategy and medical aesthetics and a former Goldman Sachs Vice President with an extensive track record in M&A. We’ve recently raised capital and are actively executing live deals - we currently have several acquisitions in progress.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
We’re looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day bookkeeping across Skingevity’s growing group of clinics. Reporting to the Group Finance Director, you’ll keep accurate, up-to-date records for multiple entities in Xero, support the month-end close and VAT returns, and help bring newly acquired clinics onto our finance processes. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced, acquisitive business, offering broad exposure and the opportunity to grow with the finance function.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Processing supplier invoices, sales income, receipts and payments accurately in Xero across all group entities.
- Preparing supplier payment runs and reconciling supplier statements.
- Performing regular bank, card and payment-provider reconciliations, including matching clinic takings from booking and card-payment systems to the bank.
- Monitoring daily bank balances, preparing weekly cash position reports and supporting the Group Finance Director with cash flow forecasting.
- Processing employee expense claims and company card transactions, ensuring receipts and approvals are in place.
- Supporting monthly payroll with our payroll provider, including preparing salary bank files and reconciling payroll, PAYE and pension control accounts.
- Supporting quarterly VAT return submissions.
- Recording intercompany transactions and reconciling intercompany balances between group entities.
- Supporting the month-end close, including accruals, prepayments, deferred income (e.g. treatment packages and deposits paid in advance), stock and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assisting the Group Finance Director with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including the profit and loss account, balance sheet and cash flow statement.
- Reviewing the ledgers for errors and inconsistencies, investigating and correcting them, and escalating significant issues to the Group Finance Director.
- Helping onboard newly acquired clinics onto Xero and group finance processes, including chart of accounts set-up, bank feeds and opening balances.
- Supporting the year-end process, including preparing schedules and supporting information for our external accountants and auditors.
- Maintaining well-organised financial records and assisting the Group Finance Director with ad hoc finance projects and analysis.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Essential
- At least 3 years’ bookkeeping experience, covering purchase ledger, sales ledger and bank reconciliations through to trial balance.
- Hands-on experience of month-end processes, including accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Strong working knowledge of Xero.
- Confident Excel user, including lookups and pivot tables.
- Sound understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and how transactions flow through to the profit and loss account, balance sheet and cash flow statement.
- Calculating and processing the monthly depreciation and amortisation.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to spot, investigate and resolve errors.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage your own workload and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
- Clear communicator, comfortable working with clinic teams, suppliers and external advisers, and able to explain financial matters to non-finance colleagues.
- Proactive and adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Desirable
- AAT qualified (Level 2 or above) or IAB/ICB equivalent is advantageous but not essential. Relevant practical bookkeeping experience will be given greater weight than formal qualifications.
- Experience in a multi-entity or group business, including intercompany accounting.
- Experience in a multi-site healthcare, medical aesthetics, retail or hospitality business, including reconciling takings from booking and card-payment systems.
- Experience integrating acquired businesses or migrating them onto new systems.
- Working knowledge of payroll.
- Knowledge of VAT treatment for medical and cosmetic treatments.
Pay: Up to £32,000.00 per year
