Bookkeeper

Alaska Tax Lady is seeking an experienced, self-motivated bookkeeping professional for our Anchorage office.

We are looking for someone who takes full ownership of their clients, manages workflows and deadlines independently, and has strong technical accounting skills.

This is a hands-on position with the opportunity to advance into a Senior Bookkeeper or Bookkeeping Manager role, overseeing bookkeeping operations across our Anchorage and Wasilla offices.

A hybrid work arrangement may be available for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple business clients.
• Own client relationships, recurring workflows, and monthly deadlines.
• Perform reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, and month-end close.
• Prepare accurate financial statements and maintain general ledger accounts.
• Process payroll, including payroll tax filings and reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and balance sheet accounts.
• Onboard new clients and establish bookkeeping procedures.
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies independently.
• Communicate proactively with clients and team members.
• Opportunity to supervise staff, review work, and manage department operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Advanced QuickBooks Online proficiency.
• Payroll processing experience required.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, double-entry accounting, and financial reporting.
• Experience with adjusting journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple clients and competing deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills, accountability, and attention to detail.

Preferred: Service Titan experience, QuickBooks Desktop experience, prior accounting firm experience, and individual or business tax preparation experience, and supervisory experience.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
