Booth Operator

GEX Auto is looking for an experienced Powder Coating Booth Operator to join our Production – Powder Coating team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating the powder coating production line and coating booth, ensuring all jigged materials are coated according to the required specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the powder coating booth and associated equipment.
• Clean injectors, sleeves, powder guns, hoses and other booth equipment to prevent powder contamination.
• Monitor the powder recovery system and ensure filters and reclaim systems are functioning correctly.
• Maintain coating film thickness according to Qualicoat standards (60–90 microns) and maintain the required records.
• Adjust powder guns and powder flow to achieve the required coating quality.
• Perform proper booth cleaning and equipment setup during colour changes.
• Minimize powder wastage during production and colour changes without compromising quality.
• Inspect coated profiles for powder thickness, coverage and evenness and make necessary adjustments.
• Monitor the performance and efficiency of the powder recovery system.
• Coordinate with jiggers to ensure correct jigging and appropriate coating coverage.
• Monitor consumable spare parts, including venturi, injectors, tubes, hoses and sleeves.
• Carry out and support preventive maintenance activities, including weekly PM.
• Prepare daily production reports and communicate relevant information during shift handovers.

Candidate Requirements

• Education: Technical Diploma / Degree (12+2)
• Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on experience operating a Powder Coating Booth
• Good spoken and written English.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong understanding of powder coating processes, colour change procedures, film thickness control and powder recovery systems.
• Ability to work in a production/shift environment.
• Strong focus on quality, safety and productivity.
