Founded in 2009 by Steve Palmer, IRHG sets itself apart in the industry by fostering an environment where our people come first. We want to meet you. Come join us in our mission to change the hospitality industry, forever.

The Role:

The Bourbon Steward / Barista works within our Farm & Market Gift Store, preparing specialty coffee beverages, leading bourbon tastings, and supporting curated retail sales. This team member delivers exceptional guest service, educates guests on featured bourbons and market products, and ensures a welcoming, clean, and organized environment.

This role blends hospitality, storytelling, product knowledge, and retail service into one elevated guest experience.

What we will ask of you:

  • Accept guest payments, process credit card transactions, and make change when applicable.
  • Maintain cleanliness of coffee equipment, counters, sinks, utensils, shelves, and storage areas.
  • Wash and sterilize glassware and coffee tools.
  • Assist with restocking coffee beans, syrups, retail merchandise, and supplies.
  • Lead scheduled and impromptu bourbon tastings with confidence and professionalism.
  • Educate guests on bourbon history, flavor profiles, production methods, and featured selections.
  • Provide thoughtful pairing suggestions and recommendations.
  • Ensure responsible alcohol service in accordance with all local and state regulations.
  • Maintain proper storage, organization, and presentation of bourbon inventory.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate needs to leadership.
  • Learn guest names and create personalized, welcoming interactions.
  • Present market items, make recommendations, and answer questions about retail offerings.
  • Support merchandising, visual displays, and seasonal product rotations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the market and tasting areas.
  • Report equipment problems or maintenance issues to management.
  • Be available to assist with other operational needs as directed by the manager to ensure smooth daily operations.

Requirements for Success:

  • Must meet legal age requirement for serving alcohol.
  • Prior barista experience preferred; working knowledge of espresso machines and specialty drink preparation required.
  • Knowledge of bourbon (or strong interest and willingness to learn extensively).
  • Ability to confidently speak in small group settings and lead tastings.
  • Strong guest service and retail sales skills.
  • Basic math skills and ability to operate a POS system.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests, managers, and team members.
  • Must be available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands require.
  • Understanding of safety, sanitation, food handling, and responsible alcohol service procedures.

Benefits:
