Bovine Embryo Transfer Technician

Kirkton Bovine Services in St. Mary’s, Ontario is looking to hire a full-time Bovine Embryo Transfer Technician to join our growing bovine reproduction team. We are looking for a motivated and professional individual to help with dairy and beef embryo implants.

Kirkton Bovine Services is a division of the Kirkton Veterinary Clinic. We are a well-established, multi-veterinarian practice servicing Southwestern Ontario. We provide top-tier preventative care, emergency services, and advanced reproductive technologies to a progressive farming community.

What You Will Do

• Recipient Suitability: Under the guidance of our veterinarians, you will determine which recipients are suitable to implant.
• Embryo Transfer: Thaw, load and implant fresh and frozen embryos. Keep accurate records of all embryo implants.
• Reproductive Program Management: With veterinary guidance and oversight, work with producers to coordinate and execute reproductive synchronization programs on farm. This would include hormone injections, CIDR/ PRID implants, and heat detection monitoring.

What We Are Looking For

• Cattle Handling Skills: Strong knowledge of dairy and beef cattle behavior and low-stress handling methods.
• Professional: Excellent time management, communication skills, attention to detail and accountability.
• Hands-on Experience: Proven experience in bovine artificial insemination. Experience in embryo transfer is an asset but not a requirement.
• Licence and Travel: A valid Ontario driver's licence to travel to client farms in our service area.
• Team Player: Ability to work independently on farm while communicating well with clients and our veterinary team.

This is a Monday through Friday position. Early start times may be required based on client needs.
