Box Machine Operator

Overview

The Boxmaking Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a Solarco Boxmatic boxmaking machine. This position produces corrugated boxes and printed packaging according to customer specifications, production schedules, and established quality standards.

The operator is responsible for machine setup, operation, adjustments, quality inspection, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance while maintaining a safe, clean, and productive work environment.

Looking for 1st and 2nd shift rolls to be filled.

Duties

• Set up and operate the Solarco Boxmatic 25 DCFM-D automatic boxmaking machine and Flexomatic 25S flexographic printing module.
• Review production orders, job specifications, samples, and work instructions prior to beginning production.
• Load and properly position corrugated board and other required materials.
• Set machine dimensions, feed systems, scoring, slotting, folding, gluing, and other machine functions according to job requirements.
• Set up and operate the Flexomatic 25S flexographic printing unit, including print registration, ink application, print quality, and related adjustments.
• Verify artwork, print position, color, copy, dimensions, and box style against production specifications.
• Make machine adjustments during production to maintain consistent quality and productivity.
• Monitor machine operation and product flow for jams, misfeeds, improper scoring, folding issues, glue problems, print defects, or other production concerns.
• Perform quality checks throughout the production run and adjust as necessary.
• Identify and remove defective products from the production process.
• Maintain accurate production counts, waste information, downtime, and other required production records.
• Monitor material usage and minimize waste while maintaining required product quality.
• Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, inspection, and basic preventative maintenance as required.
• Assist with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, feeding, printing, gluing, and folding issues.
• Communicate machine problems, material issues, quality concerns, and maintenance needs to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance personnel.
• Safely operate material-handling equipment as authorized and trained.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with company housekeeping standards.
• Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, PPE requirements, and machine-specific safety procedures.
• Work cooperatively with production, quality, maintenance, and management personnel to meet production goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety Responsibilities

• Operate machinery only after receiving appropriate training and authorization.
• Follow all machine guarding and safety requirements.
• Never bypass, disable, or remove machine safety devices.
• Follow established procedures for clearing jams and making machine adjustments.
• Use required personal protective equipment.
• Report unsafe conditions, equipment damage, and injuries immediately.
• Maintain awareness of personnel working around the machine and production area.

Requirements

• Previous manufacturing or machine-operating experience preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand machine operation and adjustments.
• Ability to read and follow production orders, work instructions, and measurements.
• Basic understanding of quality-control procedures.
• Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and communicate equipment problems effectively.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
