Job Overview

The venue day of show manager is the business’ direct liason with artists & patrons on

event days. The Southern is a business rooted in customer service/hospitality. This role is

positioned for first impressions.

Shifts require making sure the venue is clean & set up for the event configuration, the artist

hospitality is staged & artist parking is available as planned (advanced).

They are responsible for processing door sales (though ticketing system) & patrons,

verifying their age & patroling the room for security. After the show, the venue must be

cleaned & reset.

Additionally, this role can be responsible for artist settlement, ticket income reporting &

any payouts tied to the show production.

The Southern is a small business that operates with minimal staffing. Duties above are

required but not limited to this position. All staff members need to be cognizant &

considerate of the rest of the staff’s duties & support them where support is needed.

General vigilance is a nessesity throughout the shift & term of employment as is a positive

attitude & enthusiasm for the business’ mission.

This position offers opportunities in other areas to support the admin/backend of event

management.

Candidates will be expected to participate in admin hours that entail:

• Contract Execution

• Event Advances

• Progam research & outreach

These duties could happen before shifts or off days under the supervision of management.

Responsibilities

• Manage all box office operations, including ticket sales, reservations, and cash handling using POS (Point of Sale) systems
• Provide outstanding guest services by answering questions, assisting with ticket purchases, and resolving conflicts promptly and courteously
• Coordinate show schedules, seating arrangements, and event logistics to ensure seamless performances
• Process cash transactions accurately while adhering to safety protocols and security procedures
• Support event setup and breakdown, including manual handling of equipment and materials in compliance with safety standards
• Maintain organized records of ticket sales, guest attendance, and show documentation
• Communicate effectively with team members and external vendors to facilitate smooth event execution.
• This is a part time position with a 1-3 shifts a week expectation.

Requirements

• Interest in gaining meaningful experience in the live music industry.
• General availability including Holidays & Weekends. Greater availability is critical in allowing greater flexibility for the entire staff.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle conflicts professionally
• Ability to operate POS systems and process cash transactions efficiently
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely during setup or breakdown activities
• Excellent communication skills for public speaking and guest interactions
• Basic math skills for cash handling and transaction processing
• Familiarity with retail sales, ticketing software, and public speaking is advantageous

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8.0 – 25.0 per week
