Position Overview

Active Plus is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Boxing Coach to lead an after-school boxing program for youth in the Bronx. The ideal candidate has experience teaching boxing fundamentals, working with young people, and creating a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment.

Programming will take place in a school cafeteria, so instructors must be flexible and creative in adapting boxing activities to a nontraditional training space.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging, age-appropriate boxing sessions focused on technique, conditioning, discipline, and confidence-building.
• Teach boxing fundamentals, including footwork, defensive movements, and combinations.
• Adapt instruction and activities to accommodate a cafeteria setting with limited equipment and space.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment for all participants.
• Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive youth development.
• Communicate with program staff regarding attendance, student engagement, and program needs.

Qualifications

• Previous experience coaching or teaching youth boxing.
• Experience working with children and adolescents in school, recreational, or community settings.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to modify boxing activities for different ages, skill levels, and available spaces.
• Dependable, energetic, and passionate about youth development.

Schedule: Weekday afternoons (3-5p).

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
