Branch Manager – Gemological Laboratory

About the role

We are seeking a highly operational and commercially driven Branch Manager to lead our flagship laboratory facility in Bangkok, Thailand. In this critical leadership role, you will serve as the primary operational and commercial link between the Bangkok grading facility, our regional headquarters in India, and local jewelry clients. The ideal candidate will seamlessly balance technical laboratory oversight (ensuring strict quality control and turnaround times) with B2B relationship management to expand GSI's footprint in the Southeast Asian gemstone and jewelry market.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day laboratory activities, ensuring diamond and jewelry grading and certification services are processed efficiently
• Manage and optimize Turnaround Time (TAT) to meet strict client and standard operating timelines
• Maintain logistics, security protocols, and inventory control for high-value gemstone and jewelry assets within the laboratory
• Enforce strict compliance with global GSI quality standards for testing, grading, and reporting
• Work closely with senior gemologists and technicians to maintain absolute grading consistency and accuracy
• Implement corporate policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) handed down by global headquarters
• Manage, mentor, and motivate a multi-layered local team of laboratory gemologists, administrative staff, and technicians
• Drive a culture of high professional standards, discipline, and ongoing technical development
• Handle local HR workflows, resource planning, and performance management at the Bangkok site
• Act as the primary face of GSI for local and international jewelry brands, manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers in Thailand

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Gemology, or a related field
• 5 to 8+ years of operations management or facility management experience
• Direct background in gemological laboratories, jewelry manufacturing, or gemstone trading environments is heavily preferred
• Full professional fluency in English and Thai (written and spoken)
• Proven track record of managing technical or multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with a natural ability to handle B2B account management, client networking, and service pitches
• A formal Graduate Gemologist diploma or certificate from an accredited institute is a distinct advantage
