Active Stars is looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Breakfast Club Assistant to join our wraparound care team.

The role involves helping to provide a safe, welcoming and enjoyable start to the school day for children attending our breakfast club. You’ll be part of a small team supporting children with breakfast, activities and play before they head into school.

Main duties include:

  • Welcoming children into breakfast club and helping them settle in.
  • Interacting positively with children and encouraging them to join in with activities.
  • Preparing and serving simple breakfast foods and drinks.
  • Supervising children while they eat, play and take part in activities.
  • Organising and joining in with games, crafts and other age-appropriate activities.
  • Helping children get ready for the school day and ensuring they are safely handed over to school staff.
  • Setting up and packing away the breakfast club area.
  • Carrying out some manual handling, including putting up and taking down tables and moving equipment.
  • Keeping the breakfast and play areas clean, tidy and organised.
  • Following Active Stars safeguarding, behaviour, health and safety and food hygiene procedures.
  • Working as part of the team to make sure children are safe, happy and well supervised throughout the session.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is friendly, approachable and enjoys working with children.
  • Is reliable and able to work consistently during term time.
  • Is confident communicating with children, parents and colleagues.
  • Is able to work as part of a team and use their own initiative.
  • Is happy to get involved in games and activities with the children.
  • Is physically able to undertake the practical elements of the role, including setting up and packing away tables and equipment.
  • Has previous experience working with children, although this is not essential for the right person.

There may also be the opportunity to work additional afternoon shifts within our After School Club for anyone looking for extra hours.

The successful applicant will be required to complete the relevant safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check.

If you enjoy working with children and would like a rewarding part-time role that fits around the school day, we would love to hear from you.
