What they need
bStudio is an award-winning service provider to the craft beer and beverage industries, based in Napier. Our mission is to deliver the highest quality service and products to our customers.
We are seeking applications for an experienced Brewer to join our team on a full time permanent basis. We're looking for someone who can get up to speed with our systems quickly to become a senior set of eyes on shift to be a real support to the wider team. This includes helping to spot and fix issues before they become problems, sharing what you know and being someone others can come to with questions.
About the role:
Our brewhouse and pack line are modern and automated, so we run a small, tight-knit production team for the amount we make. As one of our brewers, you'll be hands-on across the whole production process. That means brewing to recipe, cellar work, lab and sensory analysis, and helping out on packaging when needed. You'll get full training in our processes, and over time you'll build the skills to run every part of brewing and cellar operations confidently and accurately.
Quality and safety are at the heart of everything we do. Day to day, you'll follow our SOPs, keep production records accurate and help troubleshoot when things don't go to plan. bStudio is one team, so you'll pitch in wherever you're needed.
Key role requirements
To be successful in the role you’ll bring the following skills and experience:
· At least four years professional brewery experience
· A relevant qualification (e.g. IBD Diploma modules, Bachelor level Food Technology or Engineering degree)
· High level of experience with brewing on a production sized brewhouse as well as extensive cellar experience.
· A good level of understanding in using brewing specific lab equipment
· A clear understanding of key quality and spoilage issues in beer (how to identify and how to prevent).
· Previous experience with recipe and brewhouse troubleshooting, quality control and laboratory and sensory analysis.
You're reliable, take pride in your work and are keen to be part of a great team. You'll have excellent attention to detail, a strong work ethic, good time management and accurate record keeping. The role is physically demanding, so strength and stamina are important.
