Broadcast Journalism Intern

Summer 2027 | Paid Internship | Lake Country DockHounds Baseball

The Lake Country DockHounds, proud members of the American Association of Professional Baseball, are seeking a Broadcast Journalism Intern to join our team for the 2027 season at Wisconsin Brewing Company Park in Oconomowoc, WI.

This internship provides hands-on experience in sports broadcasting, journalism, media relations, and content creation. You’ll work alongside our Head Broadcaster and team staff to bring DockHounds baseball to life through live broadcasts, interviews, written content, and digital media. This is a great opportunity for students looking to build real-world experience in sports media and develop their on-air and storytelling skills.

What You’ll Do

• Broadcast: Assist with and call all 50 DockHounds home games alongside the Head Broadcaster, including play-by-play and color commentary.
• Content Creation: Write daily game previews, recaps, press releases, and other written content for the DockHounds website and social media channels.
• Media Relations: Assist with coordinating press passes, communicating with local media outlets, and supporting media coverage of the team.
• Storytelling: Conduct player, coach, and staff interviews and develop feature stories throughout the season.
• Research & Statistics: Compile daily stat packs, game notes, team information, and other materials needed for broadcast and media coverage.
• Digital Content: Assist with creating video, audio, and other digital content to promote the team and engage fans.
• Fan Engagement: Support pre- and post-game interviews, community appearances, mascot visits, and other fan-facing opportunities.
• Game-Day Operations: Assist with broadcast setup, game-day media responsibilities, and other tasks needed to ensure successful production.
• Teamwork: Collaborate with the marketing, media, and other departments while assisting with game-day operations as needed.

What We’re Looking For

• Students pursuing a career in broadcast journalism, sports communication, or media.
• Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable speaking on-air with enthusiasm and professionalism.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays throughout the season (late April–mid September).
• A positive, team-first attitude and passion for sports.

Internship Details

• Compensation: Up to $1,500 for the summer.
• Schedule: All 50 home games, plus occasional community appearances.
• Location: Wisconsin Brewing Company Park, Oconomowoc, WI.
