The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced commercial insurance Broker to join our Canterbury team, based in Christchurch CBD.

This is an opportunity to inherit an established portfolio while also contributing to the continued growth and success of our business. You'll work closely with a supportive team of brokers, broker support staff, claims specialists, and leadership, helping clients navigate risk and protect what matters most to them. The role involves managing and growing a portfolio of commercial, domestic and rural insurance clients, delivering tailored advice, and building strong long-term relationships with both clients and insurers.

About the Role

You'll be responsible for managing client relationships and providing advice across a broad range of risks.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing, servicing and growing an established portfolio of clients
• Providing risk advice and placement for renewals and new business
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, insurers, and industry partners
• Identifying opportunities to grow existing client relationships and generate new business
• Preparing and presenting insurance programmes and recommendations
• Supporting clients through claims alongside our dedicated claims team
• Maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring compliance requirements are met
• Contributing positively to team culture, knowledge sharing, and business initiatives
• Delivering consistently high standards of service and advice to clients
• Staying informed of market developments and industry trends to support client outcomes

About You

You'll be someone who genuinely enjoys building relationships, delivering great client outcomes, and taking ownership of your work.

We're looking for someone with:

• Proven experience in commercial insurance broking
• Strong relationship management and communication skills
• The ability to confidently advise clients and negotiate with insurers
• Sound commercial judgement and problem-solving ability
• A proactive approach to managing opportunities and challenges
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
• Professionalism, integrity, and accountability in everything you do
• Level 5 Certificate in Financial Services v2

Most importantly, you'll be someone who is collaborative, client-focused, and committed to delivering outstanding service while contributing positively to the wider team.
