Position Overview

Backpack Boyz is looking for friendly, knowledgeable, and dependable Budtenders to join our Los Angeles dispensary team.

Budtenders are responsible for creating a welcoming and professional experience for every customer while providing knowledgeable product recommendations, accurately processing transactions, and following all company and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate is passionate about cannabis, provides excellent customer service, works well in a fast-paced environment, and can be counted on to show up ready to work as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide friendly, professional, and attentive service.
• Assist customers with selecting cannabis products based on their preferences, experience, and desired product characteristics.
• Maintain strong knowledge of cannabis products, including flower, pre-rolls, concentrates, vapes, edibles, and other product categories.
• Stay informed about current products, brands, promotions, and inventory.
• Educate customers about product types, potency, consumption methods, and responsible use without making medical claims.
• Accurately process transactions through the POS system.
• Verify customer identification and eligibility before completing transactions.
• Follow all applicable purchase limits and California cannabis regulations.
• Handle cash accurately and maintain register accountability throughout each shift.
• Follow all company cash-handling, security, and loss-prevention procedures.
• Assist with stocking products, organizing displays, and maintaining the sales floor.
• Help monitor inventory and immediately communicate discrepancies or product issues to management.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional retail environment.
• Follow opening, closing, cleaning, and daily operational procedures as assigned.
• Follow all company SOPs and compliance requirements.
• Participate in product education and staff training.
• Work collaboratively with management, security, reception, inventory, and other team members.
• Complete additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Previous cannabis dispensary or cannabis retail experience preferred.
• Previous retail, hospitality, or customer service experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of cannabis products, brands, consumption methods, and terminology.
• Comfortable discussing cannabis products and making recommendations to customers with different levels of experience.
• Experience using a retail POS system preferred.
• Strong cash-handling skills and attention to accuracy.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow compliance procedures.
• Dependable, punctual, professional, and team-oriented.
• Ability to remain professional when handling difficult or high-volume customer situations.
• Must meet all California requirements for employment within a licensed cannabis retail business.

Schedule & Availability

Candidates must have flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Scheduling will be based on the operational needs of the store.

Compensation

$18.00–$20.00 per hour, depending on experience.
