Building Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Building Engineer to ensure the optimal operation, maintenance, and safety of our facility’s infrastructure. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining a wide range of building systems, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and facilities equipment. Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems, HVAC units, plumbing, and mechanical equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment using schematics, hand tools, and testing devices such as ohmmeters.
• Conduct HVAC system repairs, including filter replacements, ductwork adjustments, and system diagnostics to maintain indoor climate control.
• Maintain building interior by performing carpentry work, painting (including residential painting), and general facilities maintenance tasks.
• Utilize programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to monitor and adjust building automation systems for energy efficiency and safety.
• Repair plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and drainage to prevent leaks and ensure proper operation.
• Read and interpret schematics for electrical wiring, mechanical systems, and plumbing layouts to facilitate accurate repairs and upgrades.
• Lead or assist with welding projects as needed for structural or equipment repairs.
• Use hand tools and electrical equipment repair techniques to address maintenance issues promptly.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used in compliance with MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) standards.
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing occupant concerns efficiently and professionally.
• Support leadership in safety initiatives and ensure compliance with all safety protocols during maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with building maintenance or facilities management in a commercial or residential setting.
• Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience; familiarity with schematics is essential.
• Hands-on skills with hand tools, electrical equipment repair, plumbing systems maintenance, HVAC system repair, welding, and carpentry.
• Ability to operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for building automation systems.
• Knowledge of facilities equipment maintenance procedures including MRO practices.
• Experience working with schematics related to electrical wiring, mechanical systems, or plumbing layouts.
• Proficiency in using testing devices such as ohmmeters for troubleshooting electrical issues.
• Excellent communication skills in English; capable of documenting work accurately and clearly.
• Leadership qualities with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments.
• Physical ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.

Pay: $50.60 - $86.85 per hour
