Building Maintenance Officer

Key Responsibility :

• Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day building, facility and utility maintenance of the factory premises.
• Act as the first-level technical support for all building, electrical and facility-related issues, including troubleshooting and corrective actions.
• Conduct regular inspection of building infrastructure, electrical systems, air-conditioning, plumbing, fire protection, utilities and other facility systems.
• Carry out preventive maintenance and ensure maintenance activities are completed according to schedule.
• Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues within the scope of competency; escalate complex issues to the relevant appointed contractors or specialists.
• Coordinate and liaise with external contractors and service providers for repair, servicing, inspection and technical troubleshooting.
• Monitor contractors' work, follow up on outstanding issues and verify completion of rectification works.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment, servicing schedules, inspection reports and statutory documentation.
• Support factory inspections, statutory compliance, fire safety requirements and authority inspections where required.
• Assist in building renovation, upgrading, improvement and facility-related projects.
• Identify potential facility risks and recommend appropriate corrective, preventive and improvement measures.
• Monitor maintenance costs and provide technical input on repair, replacement and improvement proposals.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely and in accordance with applicable regulations and company requirements.
• Respond promptly to urgent breakdowns and facility-related issues to minimize disruption to factory operations.

Requirements :

• Mandatory: Valid Chargeman BO competency certification issued/recognized by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission), Malaysia.
• Diploma / Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management or a related technical field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in building, facility, electrical or industrial maintenance.
• Experience in a manufacturing / factory environment will be an added advantage.
• Strong practical knowledge of building maintenance, electrical systems, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
• Good working knowledge of building services such as HVAC/air-conditioning, plumbing, fire protection systems and utilities.
• Experience in coordinating and supervising external contractors and service providers.
• Familiarity with Malaysian statutory and safety requirements relating to electrical and building maintenance.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and coordination skills.
• Hands-on, proactive and responsive, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple maintenance issues.
• Safety-conscious with a strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
• Willing to attend to urgent maintenance or facility breakdowns when required.
• Good documentation, reporting and follow-up skills.
• Able to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, contractors and service providers.
