What they need
Building Maintenance Technician – Full-Time
One Archer Lane, an established high-rise condominium community in Honolulu, is looking for a dependable, hands-on Building Maintenance Technician to join our full-time maintenance team.
If you're mechanically inclined, enjoy figuring out how things work, and would rather solve problems than sit behind a desk all day, we'd like to hear from you.
This is an opportunity to work alongside an experienced team and gain hands-on exposure to the systems and equipment that keep a high-rise residential building operating every day.
We value experience, but we're also willing to train the right person.
You don't need to know everything on day one. We're looking for someone with solid basic skills, mechanical aptitude, good judgment, a willingness to learn, and the work ethic to become an important part of our team.
What You'll Do
Our maintenance team is responsible for the day-to-day operation, upkeep, and preventative maintenance of a high-rise residential property.
Responsibilities may include:
- Performing routine building maintenance and repairs
- Troubleshooting plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and other building-related issues
- Performing scheduled preventative maintenance
- Inspecting equipment and building areas for problems or potential failures
- Responding to maintenance requests and building issues
- Making minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, hardware, and general repairs within the scope of the position
- Assisting with pumps, motors, valves, mechanical equipment, and other building systems
- Assisting licensed contractors and vendors working on the property
- Preparing work areas and providing access for scheduled repairs and projects
- Maintaining tools, equipment, maintenance areas, and supplies
- Documenting completed work and reporting problems that require additional attention
- Responding appropriately to leaks, equipment failures, alarms, and other unexpected building situations
- Supporting the maintenance team with larger projects as needed
- Helping maintain a safe, clean, and professional property
We're Looking for Someone Who
- Is mechanically inclined and comfortable working with tools
- Enjoys troubleshooting and solving problems
- Has hands-on maintenance, repair, construction, mechanical, facilities, or similar experience
- Has a working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical, or general building repairs
- Understands when a problem can be handled in-house and when it needs to be escalated
- Pays attention to details and takes pride in doing work correctly
- Is dependable and punctual
- Can prioritize tasks and follow through without constant supervision
- Communicates well with coworkers, management, residents, and vendors
- Works safely and follows established procedures
- Is willing to learn new systems, equipment, and procedures
- Can work independently but understands the importance of being part of a team
High-rise or condominium experience is a plus, but it is not required.
Candidates coming from facilities maintenance, hotels, commercial buildings, construction, plumbing, electrical, mechanical work, property maintenance, or other hands-on trades are encouraged to apply.
Don't Know High-Rise Maintenance Yet?
That's okay.
We're willing to invest time in someone who brings the right foundation and attitude.
If you know your way around tools, can troubleshoot instead of simply replacing parts, aren't afraid to ask questions when you don't know something, and genuinely want to learn, we encourage you to apply.
We would rather train a motivated person with potential than overlook a strong candidate simply because they haven't worked in a high-rise condominium before.
Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on position. Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. The work may include prolonged standing and walking, bending, reaching, stooping, squatting, climbing stairs and ladders, pushing or pulling equipment, using hand and power tools, and safely lifting and carrying tools, equipment, and materials.
Work may take place in mechanical rooms, parking areas, rooftops, exterior areas, and other building operational spaces.
Why One Archer Lane?
Our maintenance department is an important part of a close-knit team that takes pride in the building and works together to get things done.
We value employees who take ownership of their work, help their coworkers, communicate when they see a problem, and don't walk past something simply because "it's not their job."
In return, you'll have an opportunity to learn from an experienced team, work with a wide variety of building systems, develop your skills, and become an important part of the day-to-day operation of a high-rise property.
We're looking for the right long-term addition to our One Archer Lane work 'ohana, not simply someone to fill an opening.
Apply Today
If you're dependable, mechanically inclined, willing to learn, and take pride in solving problems and doing things the right way, we'd like to meet you.
Submit your resume or work history through Indeed. Even if your experience doesn't match every item listed above, we encourage you to apply if you believe your skills and work ethic would make you a strong addition to our team.
