About the Role

As a Building Services Manager at DayOne, you'll oversee security and soft services at the Lahti campus to provide a safe and efficient environment for employees and visitors. You'll manage the building services team and work closely with the Security Manager on security. You'll coordinate contractors delivering cleaning, waste management, landscaping, pest control, property maintenance, and repairs. Your scope covers multiple buildings within a data centre cluster, including front-of-house facilities such as lifts, gates, and roller shutters.

DayOne is building its flagship hyperscale data center campus in Lahti, on a former industrial site in Kiveriö. The campus is designed to use Finland's naturally cool climate for free cooling, with air-cooled chillers that remove the need for freshwater cooling.

ResponsibilitiesDay-to-Day Building Services

• Manage the building services team to support day-to-day operations across the cluster's buildings.
• Work with the Security Manager to provide a safe environment for employees and visitors.
• Coordinate service providers and teams to maintain building service standards.

Reliable Facilities and Contractor Services

• Coordinate contractors delivering cleaning, waste management, landscaping, pest control, property maintenance, and repairs.
• Inspect and maintain facilities, including lifts, gates, and roller shutters, to keep them operational.
• Negotiate service contracts and ensure contractors deliver services in accordance with agreements.

Health and Safety Compliance

• Ensure building services comply with applicable health and safety regulations.
• Conduct regular safety audits to assess compliance across the facilities.
• Carry out risk assessments to support a safe environment for employees and visitors.

Requirements

Technical Skills

• A technical qualification in Facilities Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or Building Services.
• Proven experience in building services and vendor management.
• Proficiency in related software and tools, knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations, and proficiency in written and spoken English.

Soft Skills

• Manage the building services team and coordinate its work to maintain service standards.
• Communicate clearly with contractors and service providers so service expectations and agreements are understood.
• Collaborate with the Security Manager and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate building services.

Nice to Have

• Experience in a data center or similar mission-critical environment.
• Knowledge of Finnish.
