What they need
A highly regarded boutique multidisciplinary consultancy is continuing to grow its Auckland team and is now looking for a Building Surveyor to join the business.
The consultancy works across Project Management, Quantity Surveying and Building Surveying, partnering with a strong mix of private and institutional clients across the commercial property sector. They have built a reputation for delivering high-quality projects and offering leading advice while maintaining a genuinely hands-on and collaborative approach.
What makes this opportunity stand out is the environment. You’ll work closely with experienced Directors who are actively involved in the business and invested in developing their people. There is a clear pathway for progression, with the opportunity to take on greater responsibility as you grow, rather than simply being another person within a large corporate structure.
The Opportunity
This is a varied Building Surveying role where you’ll have the opportunity to work across a broad range of projects and client requirements.
Depending on your experience, your work could include:
- Building condition surveys and technical inspections
- Technical due diligence
- Schedules of condition
- Dilapidations
- Defect investigations and reporting
- Maintenance and lifecycle planning
- Contract administration
- Project monitoring
- Building and refurbishment projects
- Providing technical advice directly to clients
You’ll have exposure to interesting commercial property projects while working alongside experienced professionals across Project Management and Quantity Surveying, giving you the opportunity to broaden your understanding of the wider property and construction lifecycle.
You'll ideally have:
- 3+ years’ Building Surveying consultancy experience on a pathway to being or already MRICS Chartered
- Experience working in a client-facing building consultancy environment
- Strong technical report writing and communication skills
- Experience with building inspections, technical due diligence, condition surveys or similar
- A relevant degree in Building Surveying, Construction or a related discipline
- Strong stakeholder management and commercial awareness
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- A proactive and practical approach to problem solving
You don’t need to be MRICS Chartered already. If this is something you’re working towards, the business will support you on this pathway.
Why consider it?
This is a great opportunity for a Building Surveyor who wants more than just a job within a large consultancy.
You’ll have direct access to experienced Directors, genuine development opportunities, exposure to a variety of projects and the ability to build your career within a growing boutique business.
If you’re looking for a consultancy where you can have real ownership of your work, develop your technical and client-facing skills and progress your career, I’d be keen to hear from you.
