We’re Hiring: Building Testing Engineer – Dubai

Buildingdoctor DMCC is a Dubai-based building diagnostics company specialising in airtightness testing, enclosure integrity testing, infrared thermography and façade water ingress testing across the UAE and GCC.

We’re looking for a Building Testing Engineer to join our technical team. The role involves a combination of on-site testing, technical analysis, project coordination and reporting.

What You’ll Do

Building Testing & Technical Activities

• Conduct airtightness (blower door) testing, enclosure integrity testing, infrared thermography surveys and façade water ingress testing.
• Carry out additional building performance testing, including duct leakage, smoke testing and other inspection services when required.
• Review project specifications, technical drawings and relevant standards to determine testing requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Analyse test data, perform necessary calculations and evaluate results against project requirements.
• Identify building performance issues, investigate test failures and communicate technical findings and recommendations.
• Prepare, operate and troubleshoot testing equipment, ensuring proper handling and maintenance.

Project Coordination & Management

• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors and internal teams regarding testing requirements and project schedules. Plan and organise site testing activities, including equipment preparation, manpower coordination and site readiness.
• Coordinate site access, permits and other requirements before testing activities. Manage assigned projects from initial coordination through site execution, reporting and final documentation. Monitor project progress, maintain testing records and ensure deliverables are completed within agreed timelines.

Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare clear, accurate and well-structured technical reports, test certificates and supporting documentation. Review and interpret testing results, observations and site findings for inclusion in technical reports.
• Maintain organised project records, test data, photographs and relevant documentation. Communicate findings and provide technical clarifications to clients, consultants and contractors.

Site & Operational Requirements

• Conduct site inspections and coordinate necessary preparations before testing. Work independently or alongside technicians and other engineers as required.
• Follow applicable testing standards, safety procedures and company quality requirements. Travel to project sites across the UAE and GCC when required.

What We’re Looking For

Education & Experience

• Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Architectural or similar) – required.
• Valid UAE driving licence – mandatory.
• At least 1–3 years of experience in building testing, commissioning, inspection or a related technical field.
• Understanding of building envelope systems, façades, curtain walls and building construction practices is an advantage.
• Familiarity with relevant testing standards such as ATTMA, ASTM E779, ASTM E783, ASTM E1105, ISO 9972 and NFPA 2001 is a plus.
• Thermography certification (Level 1 or above) is an advantage.

Technical & Software Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, including the ability to read, interpret and review technical drawings – mandatory. Basic knowledge of BIM software, including Revit and Navisworks, is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Strong technical report-writing, data analysis and documentation skills – essential.
• Ability to understand technical specifications, testing procedures and relevant engineering standards. Basic understanding of testing instruments, equipment operation and technical troubleshooting is an advantage.

Professional & Soft Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Good organisational, planning and time-management abilities.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors and internal teams. Strong attention to detail, accuracy and quality of work.
• Good analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines. Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team. Proactive, adaptable and willing to learn new testing methods and technical procedures. Comfortable with both office-based technical responsibilities and on-site testing activities.
