Job Description

VIP Buses Limited is a professional passenger transport company providing safe, reliable and efficient school transportation services. Due to the continued expansion of our school transport operations, we are seeking an experienced and responsible Bus Driver to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating buses safely on designated school transport routes, transporting students between agreed collection points and schools, and ensuring that all journeys are conducted safely, punctually and professionally.

The role requires a strong commitment to road safety, passenger safety, punctuality and professional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate buses safely and efficiently on designated school transport routes.
• Provide scheduled morning and afternoon school transportation services.
• Collect and drop off students at designated locations in accordance with agreed routes and schedules.
• Ensure the safety and security of passengers throughout each journey.
• Comply with Irish road traffic legislation and all applicable passenger transport requirements.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety and condition checks before commencing duties.
• Report vehicle defects, mechanical issues and safety concerns to management promptly.
• Maintain the cleanliness and professional presentation of the assigned vehicle.
• Follow designated routes and scheduled collection and drop-off times.
• Maintain accurate driving, journey and operational records.
• Communicate professionally with school representatives, parents/guardians, passengers and company management.
• Deal appropriately and professionally with routine passenger and operational queries.
• Maintain punctual attendance for all scheduled school runs.
• Follow all company health and safety procedures and operational policies.
• Report incidents or accidents in accordance with company procedures.
• Represent VIP Buses Limited in a professional manner at all times.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

• Minimum 6 months' professional experience as a bus, coach or passenger transport driver.
• Full Irish or EU Category D driving licence – mandatory.
• Valid Driver CPC – mandatory
• Legally entitled to drive passenger-carrying vehicles in Ireland.
• Excellent driving record and strong commitment to road safety.
• Good knowledge of Irish roads and ability to follow designated routes.
• Ability to carry out vehicle safety checks and identify/report defects.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good level of spoken and written English to communicate effectively with schools, passengers, parents/guardians and management.
• Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work.
• Ability to work independently and follow company procedures.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of passenger safety and customer service.

Important: A Category B driving licence is not sufficient for this position. Applicants must hold a valid Full Category D driving licence.

Desirable Requirements

• Previous experience in school transport.
• Previous experience transporting children or students.
• Experience driving coaches or other large passenger vehicles.
• Previous experience working with schools or educational institutions.
• Customer service experience.
• Familiarity with passenger transport management or driver recording systems.
• Knowledge of local school routes and surrounding road networks.

Working Hours

The position is full-time based on a 39-hour working week. Working hours will be organised around school transportation schedules and may include early morning and afternoon services.

The successful candidate must be willing to work flexibly in accordance with operational requirements, including occasional additional hours where required.

Salary

€39,000 per annum (750 per week) based on 39 hours per week.

The remuneration is based on the normal contracted working hours and does not include overtime or other additional payments unless separately applicable under the employment contract.

Place of Employment

The successful candidate will be based in County Dublin, with duties involving scheduled school transport routes and designated collection and drop-off points.

The nature of the position requires the employee to travel between designated schools, passenger collection points and other locations forming part of the company's school transport operations.

Qualifications / Licence

Mandatory:

• Full Irish or EU Category D Driving Licence
• Valid Driver CPC, where applicable
• Minimum 6 months' relevant professional driving experience

Applicants who do not hold the required Category D driving licence will not meet the essential requirements for this position.
